How long does an Apprenticeship take?

The amount of time to complete an Apprenticeship really depends on the course you have chosen.

How do Apprenticeships work?

You will receive a real wage. Throughout your apprenticeship you will receive on-the-job training which allows you to achieve your qualification (NVQ, Award, Certificate or Diploma). With NECC you will gain further skills - like working in teams, problem-solving, communication and using new technology. Also, you will study for a Technical Certificate, which gives you furtherknowledge and understanding of your job.

How much do Apprentices get paid?

Apprentices earn at least 2.60 pounds per hour.

What are Apprenticeships?

An apprenticeship enables you to learn whilst on the job. This means that you are learning the skills you need to do the job and at the same time, you are gaining experience of actually doing the job. You gain a nationally recognised qualification (NVQ, Award, Certificate or Diploma) and rather than just learning from books, you can actually put your skills into practice.

What hours am I expected to work?

Your conditions of employment, including your hours, holidays and pay are all agreed between you and your employer.

What qualifications do I get when I've finished?

An Apprenticeship is essentially a set of qualifications called a ?framework? developed by Sector Skills Councils. Most Apprenticeship frameworks follow a standard format that comprises:

- A National Vocational Qualification (Level 2 for Apprenticeships, Level 3 for Advanced Apprenticeships).
- Key Transferable Skills.
- A Technical Certificate.

Including certificates to show your are competent in your chosen vocational area and that you understand and can do the job.
